Sheridan, Indiana
Frances Kay Shoe, née Willhoite, passed away on November 2, 2026, in Carmel, Indiana, with her family at her side. She was born on April 15, 1940, in Elwood, Indiana.
Frances will be remembered as a woman who loved everybody. She was spicy, funny, and unafraid to speak her mind, and she truly never met a stranger. Her warmth and lively spirit left an impression on the people around her, whether she was catching up with old friends, enjoying time with family, or simply sharing a conversation with someone new.
She found joy in life’s familiar pleasures and in the people and places that made her happiest. Frances loved her dogs and delighted in seeing her neighbors’ children. She was a fan of the Colts and the Fever, enjoyed going out to eat with her family, and liked going for drives to see new places. She also treasured quiet moments sitting on her porch and watching the cows. An avid Elvis fan, she carried her own bright sense of style and joy, with purple and red among her favorite colors. Above all, her proudest accomplishment was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Marty Davis, Kathleen Bellinger and her husband Merle, Donald Shoe, Connie Baldwin and her husband Eric, Darryl Shoe, Diana Higginbotham, and Carl Shoe and his wife Karen. along with her 18 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 16 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert "Bob" Willhoite and his wife Jeannie, and William “Bill” Willhoite, as well as several nieces and nephews. Frances’s family was the center of her life, and the love she gave them will remain a lasting gift.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrel Shoe; her father and mother, Fred and Kathleen Willhoite; and her grandchildren, Amanda Strong and Bret Craven.
Frances Kay Shoe will be remembered for her strong spirit, her humor, her love of family, and the way she welcomed others so easily into her world. Her memory will live on in the many lives she touched and in the moments of laughter, love, and togetherness she shared with those who knew her.
