Helen G. Saunders, age 98, passed away on Thursday December 18, 2014 in Carmel, Indiana. She was born on June 18, 1916 in Ellinwood, Kansas to Donald and Clare Stumps Grant. She married Harry Arden Saunders on March 6, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri. He preceded her in death on February 13, 2006. Helen graduated from the University of Kansas Class of 1939, with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She was active in the community of Downs, Kansas, where she lived for 53 years, from 1951 to 2004. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Downs and enjoyed playing bridge and golf, and reading.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Leona Saunders of Sheridan; Indiana, one granddaughter and her husband, Angela and Bobby Smith of Sheridan; Indiana, two great granddaughters and two great grandsons, Nikki and Ruby Smith and Anthony and Garin Smith.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister Marjorie Ballard of Ellinwood, Kansas. Family and friends will gather for a graveside service at Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Ellinwood, Kansas. The family will determine a date and time in the future.
