John Ray Patrick, 76 of Sheridan, Indiana; passed away on April 13, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. John was born on February 16, 1943 to the late Augusta and Mary Bell (White) Patrick in White County, Illinois. John graduated from Carmi-White County High School, Class of 1961. John met the love of his life Brenda Gail (Sweezer) Patrick and they were married on August 9, 1964 in Cynthiana, Indiana; and have been at each other's side for 54 years. When John retired in 2010 from Doyle Equipment after working for them for 30 years.

John was a proud republican; and after his retirement he decided to run for Adam Township Trustee on the republican ticket.  John won his election and ran again and won a second term and it appeared that John started a second career. John looked forward to his morning card games and daily news at the Sheridan car wash; the crew would gather there every morning. John was a dedicated Sheridan Blackhawks football fan. He rarely missed a game. John enjoyed his vacations with his wife in Branson, Missouri. They enjoyed seeing shows, especially anything that had blue grass gospel music. John loved his St. Louis Cardinals and NASCAR. John always looked forward to the annual trip to Bristol to watch the NASCAR race with the Sheridan car wash crew. John was an umpire with the Indiana High School Association. He also played in men's softball leagues. John loved sports whether playing them or watching them. He never met a stranger everyone that crossed John's path after having a conversation with him, he would make you feel like you've known each other for years. John's greatest joy was his family especially his grandchildren whom he was very proud of. He leaves behind his devoted wife Brenda of 54 years. His loving daughter Melody Kimmell of Sheridan. John was a loving grandfather to Mary (Robert) Bell of New Ross, IN. Rebekah (Zach) Sanders of Kirklin, IN. Cameron Kimmell of Sheridan, IN. Payten Kimmell of Sheridan, IN. and Reagan Kimmell of Sheridan, IN. He was a proud great-grandfather to Eleanor and Oscar Sanders, and his daughter-in-law Marcy Patrick of Shelbyville, IN. Preceding John in death is his brothers Byrd L. and Dan Patrick. His daughter Jill Patrick in 2006 and his son The Rev. David Patrick in 2011.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April 16, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Sheridan United Methodist Church located at 207 E. 2 ^nd St. Sheridan, Indiana; where family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 am till 2:00 pm. Burial will be held on Saturday April 20, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Big Prairie Cemetery in Carmi, Illinois.
