Mary Grace (Stafford) Holmes-Pickett

Mary Grace (Stafford) Holmes-Pickett, 88, of Sheridan, was called home on Tuesday, March 13, 2018. Mary Grace was born on November 19, 1929 to the late Bernard and Flavia (Rector) Stafford in Sheridan, Indiana.

Mary Grace was an alumni of the Sheridan High School graduating class of 1947. Mary Grace had 16 wonderful years with her late husband Robert W. Holmes. They were married on August 15, 1947. He preceded Mary Grace in death in 1963. After several years, Mary Grace married Bryce Pickett. Mary Grace and Bryce were married October 22, 2005. Bryce preceded Mary Grace in death on December 6, 2014.

Mary Grace worked as beautician for many years. She enjoyed taking care of her client's hair and meeting new people. She was also a cashier for the IGA Supermarket in Sheridan and Mary Grace also worked in Restaurant Management. Mary Grace took pleasure in taking care of others. She did this by working as a house mother at DePauw University, Butler University and Purdue University. During Mary Grace's free time, she would crochet, assemble jigsaw puzzles, play many games of euchre and watch sports, especially basketball. Mary never met a stranger as she loved to socialize. Mary Grace was a strong devoted woman. She shared her faith with her family, who will greatly miss her.

Mary Grace is survived by her two daughters, Jane Arnold of Lafayette and Anita (Jerry) Hobson of Sheridan and her son, Phil (Anita) Holmes of Sheridan. Mary Grace is a loving grandmother of eight and a proud great-grandmother of ten. Mary Grace is also survived by her beloved sister, Wanda Singleton and several nieces and nephews. Mary Grace's brother's; Wib Stafford, Pete Stafford and sister, Barbara Burtron preceded her in death.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 10:00 am at Sheridan United Methodist Church, 207 E. 2 ^nd Street, Sheridan, IN.  Rev. Carol Fritz will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Crown View Cemetery. Calling will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Sheridan United Methodist Church.
