Roberta Mae "Bobbie" (Cottingham) Mendenhall

April 20, 1925 - May 17, 2016

Roberta Mae "Bobbie" (Cottingham) Mendenhall, 91, of Lebanon; formerly of Sheridan, passed away on May 17, 2016. She was born on April 20, 1925 to the late Charles Fletcher and Lola Adele (Henshaw) Cottingham in Sheridan, Indiana. Roberta was a graduate of the 1943 Sheridan High School class. Roberta worked for the Sheridan News. She was employed at Firestone during World War II while her husband Donald was fighting overseas. She also worked for the Best Lock Company in Indianapolis for 10 years. Roberta was a lifetime member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church. As well as being a member of her church, she was very active in the Methodist Women's Club where she enjoyed knitting hats for infants. Roberta's hobbies included painting, sewing, and crocheting. Roberta deeply cared for her family whom will greatly miss her.  She is survived by her loving husband, Donald. Roberta and Donald were married on October 23, 1943 in Sheridan, Indiana. They were married for 72 years. Roberta is survived by her children; Neil (Pamela) Mendenhall, Mark (Roberta) Mendenhall, Marcia (Allen) Pettigrew, Ann (Ron) Granville and Nancy (Mitchell) Cain.  She was a proud and loving grandmother of 12, great-grandmother of 23 and a great-great-grandmother of 4. Roberta's sisters; Betty Fesmire, Drucilla Jones and Judy Moore preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Sheridan United Methodist Church, 207 E. 2nd Street. Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 am until time of service. Pastor, Rev. Carol Fritz will be officiating Roberta's service.
