Teresa McCoy

On January 2nd, the world said goodbye to Teresa McCoy.

Teresa was born on January 13th, 1952, with a frozen coke in her hand and perfect smoky blue eye shadow. She graduated from Sheridan and from there began what would be a lifetime of caring for others. She took great pride in being able to be called Mom and Gran, and those names extended well beyond her family. Anyone that was lucky enough to have Teresa in their lives would tell you that she had a unique way of comforting and reassuring you when times were tough. She wouldn't hesitate to help anyone in need, even if it meant she would go without. For those reasons, and so many more, consider yourself blessed if you had the chance to tell her, "I love you, mom" or "Thank you, Gran".

Teresa had many incredible hobbies. She loved collecting. She was an amazing cook, but I've never seen any of her recipes written so a gold star to whoever can recreate her baked beans and potato salad for me. She loved dogs, especially her Scooter. And she found so much joy in carefully curating the perfect Christmas and birthday gifts and watching the happiness that each gift brought.

Teresa was an entrepreneur that always had to stay busy. She wanted to always be productive and never sit still. Unfortunately, that meant that she was late...for everything. "Teresa Time" was a workaround her family came up with to keep her on time. If the event starts at 3pm, we're telling her to be there at noon.

She was an incredible person, and the world will not be the same without her in it. If Teresa has ever made you smile, please honor her by doing something to help someone else. It will take all of us to be selfless to have the same impact that she left on us.

Teresa will be greatly missed by her daughters Melissa McCoy, and Cheryl “Brooke” (Joshua) Moffitt, she was a loving gran to Trista (Chad) Huffman, Austin (Alicia) McCoy, Shaylie (Richard) Haley, Kalan (Zachary) Martin, Rylan (Catherine) Faucett, Baylee Blackledge, Justin (Autumn) Palmer, Brooklyn Martin, Gabrielle Reynolds, and Alyssa Pisano. She was a proud great grandmother to 23. She is survived by her brothers Eddie (Karen) Doty, John (Sharon) Doty and her life Companion Gerald “Gator” Greathouse and his two daughters Tyla Greathouse, and Tori (Jon) Hutsell.

Teresa was preceded in death by her son Brad Martin, Father Cleo Doty, Mother Phyllis Doty, Brother James Doty, Sister Linda Engle, and her Dogs Jackson, Scooter, Skylar.
