With heavy hearts and deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Ty James Weesner, who left us far too soon on July 2, 2026, in Sheridan, Indiana, at the age of 18. Ty was born on May 2, 2008, in Carmel, Indiana, and in his short but impactful life, he brought immense joy, warmth, and love to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Ty was a gentle soul who knew nothing but love and kindness. He thrived in the company of others-his social nature made him a beloved presence among family, friends and classmates and anyone who crossed his path. Ty loved to watch his brother play baseball and he enjoyed his feet in the sand in the ocean. Ty was in the Life skills class at Sheridan High School. He enjoyed his field trips and working with his peers to meet his individualized goals. Though Ty was nonverbal he spoke his feelings though his eyes.
Ty was involved with activities/therapies over the years from private physical therapy & horse therapy. Lots of social events including participating in Indy Mini Marathon through Ainsley’s Angels of Bedford and attending two Special Needs Proms. Ty enjoyed a variety of music along with Paw Patrol, Sponge Bob and Bluey to name a few of his favorite cartoons. The milestones reflected his love of being surrounded by people and community.
Ty leaves behind a devoted family who will forever treasure his memory: his father Dan Weesner, Mother Karen Weesner, brother Bret Weesner; Grandfather Jim Weesner: Grandmother Shela Weesner; Uncle Kelly Smith (Christine); several great Aunts and lots of cousins.
He is now joyfully reunited with his late grandfather Sam Smith and grandmother Linda Smith, who preceded him in death and who, no doubt, welcomed him with open arms.
Family, friends, and all those whose lives Ty touched are invited to honor his life during visitation on Saturday July 11, 2026, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Sheridan First United Methodist Church, 207 E 2nd Street, Sheridan, IN 46069. A funeral service will follow at the same location starting at 2:00 pm. Ty will be laid to rest at Eagle Creek Cemetery, 15550 Little Eagle Creek Ave, Westfield, IN 46074 with burial service to begin at 3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Riley’s Children Foundation Ways To Give | Riley Children's Health or Ainsley’s Angels Inclusion Advocacy | Ainsley's Angels of America in memory of Ty. Though Ty’s life was brief, his unwavering kindness, infectious smile, and loving spirit have forever shaped the hearts and memories of those left behind. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. His legacy will be carried forward by his family and all who know his gentle soul.
